About me💕

Hi, I am Alice and welcome to my little corner on the Internet 💖

I have been a reader since my very first steps. For as long as I can remember, books have been constant companions. They offered me comfort when I needed it the most, and challenged my worldview when I got too comfortable in my truths.

I do not believe in stories as a mere tool of escapism. Books are my attempt to shine a light over the universe, and find my place within it. This blog is a map of that journey!

Thank you for being here!

Why a blog?

I have worked in tech and engineering for some years now, and I am just not fond of social medias as a tool for communication! However, I have an itch for creating content!

I am a quite reserved and shy person, so YouTube was a terrible bet 😂 A blog felt freeing, simple enough and yet in tune with my style of self-expression!

What you will find here?

  • List of books I like
  • Reviews of books I have enjoyed, sometimes in Italian, sometimes in English, at times even in German!
  • Pictures that usually I would not know where to put!
  • Books I dislike 👀
  • Book-ish spots in the area of Munich!

My vibes!

I like the "literary fiction" area of the bookstore! Although I occasionally dabble into fantasy and science-fiction, I tend not to enjoy books relying on genre's tropes.
I am a lover of the classics, specifically 19th century French literature and 20th century American authors, however I have a spot spot for Dickens, Kafka, Dostoevskij.. ( and many others😂).

I also enjoy reading non-fiction- usually I avoid self-help books ( I find them often rather full) and favor autobiographies and biographies, memoirs or works of political reporting.
I read many papers ( also for work) so I tend to avoid heavily scientific works of non-fiction, as I get more than enough of a fix on a daily basis 😂

Some of my favorite titles ( and that have impacted me most as a reader & person ) include:

Contemporaries
  • Human Acts by Han Kang
  • White Noise by Don DeLillo
  • The Fairy Oak Saga, by Elisabetta Gnone
  • Wellness by Nathan Hill
